Last month's jam session was a complete success! Our goal was to create a clean and creative environment for the celebration of jazz music in Cincy and we cleared our expectations. The house band consisting of Professor Spira, Brother Air, Eddie Brookshire, and Daktehu was joined by some of the region's best musicians, including pianist Erwin Stuckey, trumpeter Mario Abney, saxophonist Cha Reeves, percussionist Liz Wu, bassist Ian Baggette, vocalist Beneeta Price, and drummer Julian Addison to name only a few. Some up and coming junior and high school jazzers were also getting in on the action and it was great to see them light up when they jumped on stage to deal with the music. Everyone in attendance proved that real jazz can be enjoyed in a family friendly, smoke-free, alcohol-free environment and many of the musicians mentioned that it was wonderful to see the audience so engaged in the music instead of a meal or a drink. We will be back in action this Sunday, March 16 at Ballet Tech Cincinnati from 6pm-9pm. Please spread the word and encourage your friends and families to come! I hope to see you on Sunday.
